New Buccaneer Mascot To Debut Soon

After nearly a year of planning a new Oswego High School mascot is expected to take to the sidelines in late September. Judy Queale-Dunsmoor, President of the Buccaneer Boosters, noted, “We started talking about this about a year ago. We hoped to increase school spirit and bring a professional image to the sidelines of our sports events and school assemblies.”

12-Year-Old Vows: I Will Be Face, Voice of Oswego County’s Homeless

county  emily speakingAt this month’s Oswego County Legislature meeting, Emily Bradshaw spoke out on what she describes as ‘a nearly invisible’ problem – homelessness. Her quest is to have a shelter built to help those in need. In the meantime, she is collecting personal care items to make up personal care bags to hand out to the homeless at the DSS or OCO offices and in schools.

FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant Achieves Record Performance

Early this morning (Sept. 16), control room operators removed Entergy’s James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant from service to begin its 20th refueling and maintenance outage after generating electricity safely for 700 consecutive days. This marks the second consecutive time FitzPatrick has operated “breaker-to-breaker” (operating from one refueling outage to the next without needing to take the plant offline in between).

Cover Of Heidi Allen Book – A Map To Hope

Heidi book coverOn April 3, 1994, Heidi Allen went missing from the convenience store at the intersection of Route 104 and 104B in New Haven. Authorities say she was kidnapped by a couple of local brothers and is presumed dead. Lisa Buske said she revealed the cover as a birthday gift to her sister, “and what better place than here at the remembrance garden.”
