Water Chestnut Pulls Are ‘Making A Difference’

A noticeable decrease in the chestnut quantities was observed along the west shore of Battle Island after five years of pulling the chestnuts in that area.

Albion Man Arrested after Assault

On July 7, at approximately 10:30 p.m., State Police in Pulaski responded to 1083 State Route 104 in Albion, for a report of an assault in progress. Route 104 in that area was shut down with assistance from the local fire department, since the perpetrator was thought to be in the area and armed with a .30 caliber rifle.

State Police Investigate Animal Complaint in Sandy Creek

The horses were evaluated by the Oswego County Humane Society and a veterinarian from North Country Veterinary and found to be underweight. However, there were no signs of neglect. The homeowner, in conjunction with county officials, will work to ensure the horses are properly fed and nourished to attain the appropriate weight, according to the State Police.

Oswego County Clerk Records System Is Back On-Line

The Oswego County Clerk’s Office on-line data management service was off-line for a few days this week, due to a circuit board failure, but the service has been fully restored, County Clerk George Williams said Thursday. Williams said sometime over last weekend a circuit board failed and caused the data management system to malfunction.

Water Chestnut Pulls on Oswego and Lower Salmon Rivers Set

(Photo by Dick Drosse.)On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to approximately noon, Dick and Naneen Drosse will lead a hand-pull near Battle Island and the historic canal lock on the west side of the Oswego River, south of Minetto. Volunteers will meet with canoes and kayaks at 10 a.m. at the Drosses’ home, Hickory Grove Road, Minetto.
