An agreement at the state and federal level has brewed up renewed interest in placing wind turbines in Lake Ontario off the Oswego County shoreline. Some local legislators are concerned about what that might mean for the area’s multi-million dollar fishing and tourism industry.

Members of the Common Council hear potential benefits regarding a new, modern website for the city. Oswego is poised for growth and “you have to get the word out,” the mayor said, adding that a vibrant interactive website is a major step in that direction.

On Saturday the Oswego City Police Department will be collecting
potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs for
destruction.

An Oswego High School teacher has been suspended, pending the results of an internal investigation. No details as to why the teacher was suspended are available.

As the weather gets warmer and the days grow longer, people aren’t the only ones enjoying the change in season. Pets are enjoying the sunshine too, and “pet parents” have to be aware of the smallest of dangers waiting for their critters in the new green grass: ticks and other parasites.

The 25th annual Harborfest is just three months away and the time has come to announce entertainers and new events planned for the summertime event. The announcement of main entertainers and big new events will be made on Thursday April 26 on the “Bridge Street” television program.

The county DPW garage in Scriba went to the dogs recently – with a few felines and a ferret thrown in for good measure. It was the Oswego County Health Department’s first rabies clinic of season. The next clinic the health department will conduct will be Pulaski: May 9, 6 to 8 p.m., County Highway Garage, County Route 2A.

According to sheriff’s deputies, she allegedly unlawfully entered a seasonal residence stealing numerous items and throwing firecrackers into a fire causing damage to floor along with items that were in the vicinity of the fireplace.

Sheriff’s deputies say a 16-year-old Osxwego boy is responsible for a host of burglaries in Oswego Town recently.
