2012 County Rabies Clinics Get Under Way

The county DPW garage in Scriba went to the dogs recently – with a few felines and a ferret thrown in for good measure. It was the Oswego County Health Department’s first rabies clinic of season. The next clinic the health department will conduct will be Pulaski: May 9, 6 to 8 p.m., County Highway Garage, County Route 2A.

DSS Staff Saved More Than $566,000 Last Year

The cases involved attempts by people to collect benefits while living in other states, filing for duplicate benefits, not reporting income and attempting to collect benefits while incarcerated in a correctional facility. In addition, 8 people were arrested over the past few weeks and charged with welfare fraud and grand larceny.

Group Shines Light On Issue Of College Student Suicides

The display contained 1,100 backpacks - each representing a lifeMore than 1,000 backpacks were meticulously scattered about the campus quad today (April 18) at SUNY Oswego. Many of them had the names of their “owners” affixed to them. They came from a myriad backgrounds and hometowns; names like Mike, Brian, Meg, Kyle, Shari, Joe, Sam, and Mom. The common thread that will forever tie them to each other – they were all college students who took their own lives.

Neighborhood Walk Planned For Second Ward

Mayor Tom Gillen and Second Ward Councilor Mike Myers have scheduled a Neighborhood Walk for the Second Ward on May 2.
