Weather permitting, the Oswego County Health Department will conduct aerial spraying of the Big Bay / Toad Harbor Swamp on the north shore of Oneida Lake the evening of Saturday and an additional area in the towns of New Haven, Volney, Hastings, Palermo and Mexico the evening of Aug. 21.

The victim accepted a ride from a man that she had just met. He was supposed to take her home, but allegedly took her to a secluded area and sexually assaulted her.
Donna Wilcox, the young victim’s aunt told Oswego County Today Tuesday night that “needless to say, her (Maggie’s) parents and the entire family are very happy that they reversed the decision and are going to spray.”
“We can’t stand the thought of another family going through what we’ve had to go through,” she added. “It’s been horrible. We are definitely very thankful they will be spraying.”
The Planning and Development Committee this week sent a businessman’s request for a zone change to the Planning Board for its advisory opinion for the proposed change. His plan to develop a hotel there, however, drew objections from some owners of existing hotels.

The decision was made, the county’s top health official says, after talking with state Health Department experts. The state’s experts told the county that spraying now would not eliminate EEE.
