County Rabies Clinics Get Under Way

At Tuesday night’s public hearing regarding the Oswego school district’s proposed budget a few speakers came forward. Some urged the board to reconsider some of the proposed reductions. Others said they agreed with the tentative cuts.
Mexico residents Jill and Michael Slocum are in need of community support to help their son, Matt, return home. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and is currently recovering from a bone marrow transplant; his brother was the donor. However, before he can return home, the Slocums’ home is in need of some remodeling to make it a safe environment for his return.
Preparations for the June 25-26th Tri-Oswego 2011 Triathlon are in full stride, and hundreds of participants, their families and friends are anticipated for the weekend of competition and fun-filled activities in Oswego, according to Ron Nelson, Tri-Oswego Race Director.

There are several small things you can do that will make a big difference. “In recognition, the Oswego County Environmental Management Council invites individuals, schools, and groups to participate in Oswego County’s Earth Week, April 15 through 24, with helping protect and preserve our county’s natural resources,” said Richard Drosse, Earth Week Coordinator for the EMC.

A 19-year-old girl reported to police that on Wednesday, at approximately 10:20 a.m. while she was walking in the area of East 10th ½ and Mitchell streets, she was followed by an unknown man for several blocks. A separate 19-year-old girl told police she was also approached on Wednesday, at approximately 2:11 p.m. while she was walking in the area of State Route 104 and East Ninth Street,

Oswego Middle School Principal Bonnie Finnerty is one of two finalists in the search for a new superintendent at the Schroon Lake Central School. On Wednesday, she was informed by the president of the Schroon board of education of the decision. Finnerty was named OMS principal in July 2008.
