The arrest stems from the investigation into incidents that occurred at a village of Central Square residence where he engaged in acts of sexual intercourse with the victim who was less than 13 years of age between October 2010 and June 2013, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Apparently the lure of the breakwall on a warm summer’s day is just too much to resist. It’s a hat trick. For the third time in about a week, the Oswego Fire Department was dispatched and Marine One headed out to the Oswego breakwall for a report of several people in distress. Shortly after 5 p.m. today (Aug. 12), a concerned citizen called 911 stating that eight or nine people were on the breakwall. Rescue crews were dispatched at 5:22 p.m. Once again, fire officials said, luckily, there were no injuries.
Weather permitting, the Oswego County Health Department plans to conduct aerial spraying of approximately 10,000 acres in portions of the towns of Hastings, West Monroe and Constantia Friday, Aug. 14. The spray date has not yet been finalized and may change based on weather or other factors.
The Oswego County Community Foundation (Oswego Foundation) has launched its first grant round and is now accepting applications until October 15. The fund is expected to award up to $20,000 in total grants this year to organizations directly serving Oswego County residents.
For the second time in a week, the Oswego Fire Department rescue boat, Marine One, has been pressed into emergency service in the Oswego Harbor. This evening (Aug. 11), firefighters responded quickly and rescued two people off the breakwall, and a third person who had been struck by a wave and thrown into the water.
At Monday night’s Common Council meeting Mayor Tom Gillen announced three budget workshops would be held this week regarding the city’s proposed spending plan for 2016. Workshops will be held Wednesday and Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday at 9 a.m. They will be held in the council chambers and are open to the public.

Update Aug. 11: “After an investigation by The city of Oswego Cause and Origin Team, the fire appears to be electrical, then spreading to the attic of the structure,” according to Fire Chief Jeff McCrobie.
Wade’s Diner on East Ninth Street was struck by fire shortly after 5 p.m. Aug. 10. Oswego Fire Department was on the scene at about 5:15 p.m. The blaze was knocked down within about a half hour.
The Preservation Association of Central New York will sponsor a tour of the Oswego Lighthouse on August 22, at 10 a.m. The Oswego Lighthouse is one of Central New York’s most iconic landmarks. While it no longer serves as a working lighthouse, it is undergoing an interior and exterior restoration by the H. Lee White Marine Museum. Four three-minute soundings of the new sirens installed by Exelon Generation and Entergy Nuclear will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 12, in the final testing before the system is approved by federal regulators. In the event of inclement weather the tests will be held Aug. 13.
