Food, one of the many reasons people crowd Breitbeck Park in Oswego each summer for Harborfest. The usual selections like gyros, wine slushies and fried dough bring people back to the food and newer selections add a fun flare each year. Featuring the main concert stage, beer tent and a big selection of vendors, Breitbeck was the definitive stop for Harborfest-goers looking to relax, enjoy a meal and great music.

The ever-popular Harborfest made its way into the record book Sunday afternoon as another successful “family reunion” for thousands. Crowds were strong all weekend at all the parks. The crowd at Saturday night’s fireworks display “was crazy huge,” according to one spectator.
On Friday members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office responded to County Route 15 near Van Auken Road in the town of Boylston for a motor vehicle accident involving a bicyclist. The investigation revealed a 12-year-old boy was struck by a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck while riding his bicycle westerly on CR 15. The child was transported to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse where he was later pronounced dead.
SUNY Oswego has partnered with Designer Hardwood Flooring CNY of East Seneca Street in Oswego in a Start-Up NY project — the college’s first — that holds promise for 19 new jobs, Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced. The company will employ local hires as well as talented SUNY Oswego interns and cooperative-education students to participate in engineering, design and manufacture of panelized flooring that uses a patent-pending, first-to-market system, according to Sherry Marmon, majority owner and president of the company.
Swingin’ singer Tia Brazda’s sassy songs, pin-up girl style and slick jumpin’ jive will knock your bobby socks off. With one foot planted in the golden era of jazz and the other in contemporary production style, Brazda elegantly segues from saucy to sophisticated with ease on her debut album Bandshell. Brazda will perform with a six-piece band at Oswego Harborfest this weekend – taking the stage at 3:30 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.

Video surveillance footage of the suspect indicates that the suspect was wearing a black colored Monster Energy Drink/Fox Racing zip-up style hooded sweatshirt. The investigation is on-going and the Oswego City Police Department is asking anyone with information about this incident to call (315) 342-8201.
The Caravan Stage Company will float into Oswego Aug. 5 through 7 for three nights of high-flying, mesmerizing aerial acrobats and a world-renowned theatrical performance. This live performance is all done on a 90-foot tall ship, the Caravan Stage Tall Ship Theatre. The event is part of the H. Lee White Maritime Museum’s “Arts on the Waterfront Series.”
