The New York State Department of Transportation is alerting motorists in Oswego County that a portion of Route 11 in the village of Pulaski will be closed in late April / early May for planned repairs to a drainage structure. Beginning at 7 a.m. on April 24, Route 11 will be closed to through traffic between Route 13 (on the south) and Lewis Street (on the north).
Amid a resurgence in synthetic drug use and reports from area hospitals on the increased number of patients being treated for adverse reactions stemming from synthetic drug use, Assemblyman Will Barclay said today (April 22) that New York State needs to enact better laws to keep synthetic drugs off the streets. On Sunday (April 26), from noon -5 p.m., VOW will hold its second Substance Awareness Family Education (SAFE) Fair at the Elks Lodge in Oswego, to raise awareness locally about the dangers.

The Princeton Review college-ranking service recognized SUNY Oswego as one of the world’s 353 most environmentally responsible colleges in the sixth annual edition of “The Princeton Review’s Guide to 353 Green Colleges.”
“We need to get this under control,” board member Sam Tripp said. The current budget proposal is $656,000 less than it was just a couple days ago. However, board members want to lower the tax increase before presenting a budget to the public. The board will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday to go over an updated draft budget. The following day is the deadline to have the budget approved.

State Police in Fulton arrested Kerri M. Kline, 23, from Hannibal, for Burglary 2nd, a class “C” felony.
Kline is accused of unlawfully entering a residence sometime between April 11 and 13, located on Pine Drive in the town of Schroeppel and stealing several jewelry items.
The event will allow candidates running for the Oswego City School District Board of Education to introduce themselves to the Oswego community and also answer submitted questions that have been provided by audience members, the home and school associations and OCTA.

At its meeting Monday night, the administrative Services Committee gave the green light to renting an ambulance from May through July. The rental period would cover some of the Port City’s busiest times, including the Bridge Street Run, according to Jeff McCrobie, fire chief. It will also allow the department to perform preventative maintenance on its other ambulances.
