Sex Offender Sentenced To Prison

Today (Dec. 8), Richard M. Switts, 40, of Mexico, was sentenced by the Hon. Donald E. Todd, Oswego County Court, to 10.5 years in state prison and 10 years post-release supervision based upon his conviction for multiple sexual offenses. On October 23, a jury convicted Switts of five counts of Criminal Sexual Act in the Second Degree (Class D Felony), two counts of Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor), and three counts of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree (Class B Misdemeanor).

Oswego’s Alternate-Side Winter Parking Restriction Starts Tuesday

The “Alternate-Side Parking Restriction” will be in effect, commencing Tuesday, December 9, at 1 a.m.
During such time as the parking restriction is imposed, the parking of any vehicle on any city street or highway from 1 to 6 a.m. on an even numbered side of the street on an odd calendar day, or an odd numbered side of the street on an even calendar day, shall be prohibited.

Oswego Committee OKs Oswego Polar Plunge Request

The event, being planned for the end of March 2015, helps raise funds and awareness of Special Olympics New York. In the past, members of the Common Council have participated. Fulton Police Charge Man in Larceny of Galisano Children’s Hospital Donation Jar

Fulton Police today (Dec. 5) arrested Mark Isdell, of Fulton, following a report of a person who stole the Galisano Children’s Hospital Donation Jar from the counter of Burger King. According to police, on November 24, at about 9:30 p.m., Isdell walked into Burger King located at 204 S. Second St., and stole the Jar containing approximately $50 in donation money.

College Student Facing Felony Charge

SUNY Oswego University Police at 2:40 a.m. today (Dec. 5) charged Ryan P. Ortolano, 21, of 270 W. Bridge St. in Oswego and Ehmer Drive in Lagrangeville with a felony count of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Additional charges include driving while intoxicated, driving with a BAC of .08 or more, speeding, failure to keep right and driving an uninspected vehicle.
