Oswego County Saves Residents More than $7.5 Million with ProAct Prescription Discount Card

In February 2008, Oswego County and ProAct implemented a free prescription drug discount card program for all county residents. Over the course of six years, Oswego County residents have combined to save over $7.5 million on nearly 214,000 prescriptions. Oswego County is one of more than 50 counties in New York who have endorsed the ProAct administered program to provide lower costing prescriptions for their residents.

The Lake Ontario counties including Oswego, Cayuga, Wayne, Monroe, Orleans and Niagara, the city of Oswego and the town of Greece are jointly undertaking an update and expansion of the Lake Ontario “Regional Dredging Management Plan” completed in 2000. A public meeting to review findings and receive public feedback will be held at 7 p.m. on Nov. 19 at the Sodus Point Village Hall, 8356 Bay St., Sodus Point.

On Monday evening, SUNY Oswego University Police arrested Alex Acosta, 19, of Rand Drive in Watertown, and Bryan A. Ortiz, 19, of Woodcrest Lane at Fort Drum.

On Monday night, the developer and several city residents urged the Common Council to settle the differences and save the historic building. “I remain steadfast in developing this property. Firefighter Injured In Liberty Street Blaze

At 11:25 a.m. today (November 7), the Oswego Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 126 Liberty St. Two occupants of the residence escaped on their own and were evaluated at the scene. One firefighter suffered a lower extremity injury and was transported to Oswego Hospital. The home suffered extensive damage throughout.
