On Aug. 26 at 9:50 a.m., Robert L. Calderone, 32, and Jessica L. Jackemuk, 29, both of 182 E. Ninth St., Oswego, were each arrested for third-degree welfare fraud and third-degree grand larceny, both class D felonies.

At its meeting Monday night, the Common Council approved ARISE’s request to use West Park for a “Light Up The Night” Run/Walk event to be held on September 13. Fort Ontario’s Coastal Warning Display tower and its history will be the topic of a lecture by Fort Ontario curator Jenny Emmons Aug. 27, at 7 p.m. The lecture will take place in the Enlisted Men’s Barracks at Fort Ontario. It is her hope that this talk serves not only to draw attention to this landmark’s significance in the past, but may also spur interest in its preservation for the future.
The state’s Broadway Bridge project over the Oswego River in the city of Fulton has entered the final phase of reconstruction and all lanes and sidewalks are slated to reopen by Sept. 30 according to the Department of Transportation.
