Mourners gather on Engles Road to remember four men who lost their lives

Memorial balloons honor the four young men who lost their lives earlier this week. A vigil was held at the crash site earlier today (March 30).The sun gave one of its seemingly rare appearances in Oswego County on Saturday afternoon as friends and family gathered on Engles Road to say goodbye to the four men who lost their lives in a car crash late Monday night. A steady stream of people walked down the hills on either side of the crash site until the road was packed. Many mourners wore T-shirts commemorating the young men who lost their lives.

Bald Eagles Sighted Along the Oswego River

Several have been spotted in the Minetto area starting by Gray Road to just before the Midway Drive-In. “Bald eagles are known for congregating near areas with open water, and Oswego County has several pristine natural areas, such as the Salmon River corridor, that attract our national bird,” said David Turner, director of the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning.

‘Transformative’ Romney Field House project boosts athletes’ readiness

Thanks to a $2 million set of revitalizing upgrades, Golden Romney Field House at SUNY Oswego has reopened as the weather-protected home of practices for men's and women's sports teams in track and field, lacrosse, baseball, softball, tennis, golf, field hockey and soccer, as well as men's and women's indoor track and field.SUNY Oswego’s Golden Romney Field House has reopened to limited spring practices as work wraps up on a $2 million project to breathe new athletic life into the college’s former ice hockey home. “It’s a transformation,” said Nicholas Lyons, vice president for administration and finance. “It came out very, very well.”

Asbestos abatement under way at OHS

Asbestos abatement will be conducted during the spring break at the
Oswego High School. Continuing work at the school is part of the project to improve the restroom facilities. By the time the students return the restrooms that have been renovated on the south side of the building should be ready for use.
