Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) virus and West Nile virus (WNV) were found in mosquito pools collected in Oswego County Aug. 7, the Oswego County Health Department announced this afternoon (Aug. 13). The tests were performed in the State Department of Health’s Wadsworth Center Laboratories near Albany.

Steven Sears, 40, of Phoenix, was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said. The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating the driver of the vehicle. According to witnesses, the driver fled because he was drunk and could not have another DWI.
The LT-5 tugboat, docked at the H. Lee White Marine Museum in Oswego, is a National Historic Landmark because of its brave acts during World War II.
