Two mosquito pools tested positive for EEE, one in the village of Central Square and the other in the town of West Monroe. Both sites are part of the target area that was sprayed last weekend. Oswego Bike Fest Kick Starts on Friday at Oswego Speedway

The inaugural Oswego Bike Fest will kick start at Oswego Speedway on Friday, providing non-stop entertainment throughout the entire weekend inside the Port City ‘Steel Palace’ oval. While Oswego Bike Fest is geared toward motorcycle enthusiasts, the festival will provide food, drinks, and entertainment for three straight days that will appeal to any and all spectators, not just those with motorcycles.

Tennis Carnival Serves Up Fun For Youngsters

A youngster keeps his eye on the ball as he prepares to return a serve.The USTA Tennis Program teaches basic tennis skills and gives youth a chance to get outside and exercise, said the program’s coordinator. A carnival was held to give them a chance to show off what they’ve learned. The USTA Summer Tennis Program began in 2006 and is run through the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau.

Help Prevent AIS Spread BEFORE We Pay for Their Management

An Aquatic Invasive Species is an organism introduced to an ecosystem that disrupts the native habitats of the region. These organisms are spread a number of ways including accidental dispersal by humans. AIS are becoming a persistent problem for waterways in New York State, clogging boating channels, disrupting the natural food webs, and impacting taxpayers. The impacts of AIS on local economies include AIS management costs, and the potential to decrease shoreline property value.
