The Oswego County Highway Department has installed new signs to assist users of the Oswego County Recreational Trail. The signs are posted at various points along the 26-mile trail and indicate location, dining and lodging facilities, gas stations and rules of use.
Oswego Hospital welcomed its first baby of the year, Natalie Storme Backus at 1:04 a.m. on New Year’s Day. She weighed six pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 inches long.
Last month was nearly 6 degrees warmer than average. That ranks in 7th place on the all-time warmest Decembers in Port City history. Two other recent years rank as one and two.

Recently the Oswego jayvee girls basketball team capped off a fundraiser for Makayla Walker, a sixth-grade student at Oswego’s Fitzhugh Park Elementary School. Money raised will go toward medical expenses for Makayla, who is battling cancer.
