The guest speaker, Dave Sanderson, told how teamwork helped him and others survive an emergency landing in the Hudson River.

If voters say no to the Fulton school district’s proposed budget this May, they could force the district into the rare position of having to adopt a contingency budget that is lower than the proposed budget.

State Criticizes Fulton Board of Assessment Review
A report from the state Comptroller’s office finds that two members of the Fulton Board of Assessment Review were more successful in appealing their property assessments than the average citizens who came before the board to argue for reductions.
Fulton Mayor Ron Woodward agreed with the report’s recommendations but added that the report pointed out no wrongdoing. “They said there was nothing criminal,” he said.

Oswego Superintendent Unveils Budget Plan With 2.5% Tax Levy Hike, 59.4 Job Cuts
Superintendent of schools Bill Crist presented his proposed spending plan for 2010-11 to the board of education Tuesday night. The $74.4 million budget increases the tax levy by 2.5 percent – and includes moving the central offices into the Leighton school building. Leighton’s students would be dispersed to the other four remaining elementary schools and Oswego Middle School. The plan would also cut 59.4 full-time positions, district wide.

Oswego Police Continue Suspicious Death Investigation
Oswego City Police are continuing their investigation into the March 14 death of a 44-year-old woman. Police investigators are working with the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the exact nature and possible causes of the fatal injuries.

New State System Notifies You When A Sex Offender Moves Into Your Neighborhood
The state Division of Criminal Justice Services this week rolled out a program that will allow people to receive a message by e-mail, text message, fax or phone whenever an offender who is in the state’s offender registry moves into or out of a community.
