Oswego Player, Inc Announce 2023 Scholarship Winners

Every year, the Oswego Players, Inc. awards scholarships to two high school seniors who plan on continuing their education. The awards are dedicated after two members who hold a special place in Oswego Players rich 85-year history, Lawrence Rose and Marion Greene. They were both avid Oswego Players’ members and supporters of the arts. Each year, the Players identify two graduating seniors who exemplify the qualities held dear by both former members of the theater group.

National Tire Safety Week

National Tire Safety Week runs from June 26 – July 3, 2023. This initiative is intended to educate consumers and motorists about tire care, safety, and maintenance, especially as the summer travel season heats up heading into the Fourth of July holiday. AAA Western and Central New York is sharing information from the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) in an effort to raise awareness.

State Department Of Transportation Announces Plans For Safety Enhancements Along Onondaga Lake Parkway

New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez today announced plans for a series of new safety enhancements along Onondaga Lake Parkway in the Village of Liverpool and the Town of Salina, Onondaga County. The enhancements are intended to reduce collisions with the low-clearance CSX Railroad bridge located near the midpoint of the parkway. They include the temporary reduction of traffic to one lane in each direction on the approaches to the CSX bridge, new signs and pavement markings, and upgrades to the existing over height detection system. Additionally, the entrance ramp to the parkway from northbound Interstate 81, which is currently closed to accommodate an ongoing construction project, will remain closed until further notice to limit the ability of trucks to access the Parkway.

Mayor Barlow Announces Charles E. Gallagher Pool Opening June 26

Mayor Billy Barlow announced the Charles E. Gallagher public pool will open on Monday, June 26, 2022. Free public swimming will be held Monday through Friday, 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m, while Saturday and Sunday the pool will be open from Noon to 5:00 p.m. Free family swim will be held Monday through Friday 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Adults 18 and older must be present for family swimming.

Senator Mannion Kicks Off Summer Libraries Tour By Announcing $20k To Support Fayetteville Free Library’s Summer Reading And Community Programs

Senator John W. Mannion today kicked off his Summer Libraries Tour by announcing $20,000 for the Fayetteville Free Library to support summer reading and other community programs. In the state budget, Senator Mannion secured a year-over-year increase of $100,000 for libraries in his district ($80,000 – $180,000.)

Travel Advisory: State Route 31 In The Village Of Baldwinsville To Close For Up To One Week

The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that State Route 31 in the Village of Baldwinsville will be closed beginning Monday, June 26, between Spruce Street and Mechanic Street to allow for CSX to perform railroad repairs on the grade level crossing in the village. The closure is expected to last up to one week.
