Fulton Schools Getting Lawyers Involved As Errors May Force Changes To Construction Project

The Fulton City School District is getting its lawyers involved to see if it can get back some of the money lost to errors in its district-wide construction project.

Superintendent Bill Lynch revealed this week that he has asked for legal opinions as members of the Board of Education expressed dissatisfaction with the cost of the mistakes and the problems those mistakes have caused.

Hannibal’s Board of Education wants to know more before it will even consider buying a piece of land that’s adjacent to the district’s high school property, but what they learned Wednesday night raised several red flags. 1045 Auburn St. is for sale.Ã‚Â It’s assessed at $47,000.Ã‚Â The property owner, the estate of Mary Blanchard, owes $13,000 in back taxes to the county, which may soon act to put the property up for tax auction.Ã‚Â And the estate wants to sell the property for $65,000.

Fulton Voters Approve New Construction Project

Voters said yes Wednesday to new roofs, boilers, security and wiring in the Fulton City School District.

They approved two construction propositions by votes of 211-128 and 209-130.

“Obviously, we’re very pleased with the vote,” said Superintendent of Schools Bill Lynch. “This is a great opportunity for the community and the kids to continue to modernize our facilities.”

Oswego Man Charged In Robbery

On Monday, at approximately 11:10 p.m., Oswego Police investigated a report of a robbery that had just occurred in the area of Tallman Street at Murray Street in the city of Oswego. At about 10 a.m. Tuesday, police officers executed a search warrant at 14 Murray St. in connection with the robbery investigation. One man was arrested.
