We haven’t unwrapped our presents or sung even one note of auld lang syne. And yet, Oswego is already starting to “warm up.” Plans for the 2010 Warm Up Oswego festival have already begun.
Our coverage of Cayuga Community College’s proposed $11 million move to River Glen Square shopping center left us with a couple of unanswered questions. Thanks to college spokesperson Pam Freeman, we’ve got a couple of answers.
An official of the Fulton Public Library came to last week’s public hearing of the Fulton Common Council to warn that without an increase in its budget, the library would have to cut hours and lay off a worker.
Aldermen approved the budget without changes, leaving its contribution to the library at the same level as in the last budget. They did not mention the library’s request nor respond to the official, beyond thanking her for her comment.
Thursday, the library’s board of trustees voted to cut its hours and lay off one member of the staff.
As we welcome winter on Monday, we look back at a warm autumn. It was also very dry and – snow free. The other four times we were so snow-free in the fall the winter wound up with less than 100 inches of snow. Will history repeat itself?
For more than 15 years, Cayuga Community College has been working in leftover, rented spaces. Now, it wants a home of its own.
The $11.2 million plan to buy the closed P&C Foods store at River Glen Square is intended, according to college President Daniel Larson, to create a space that “looks and feels and sounds and smells like a college campus.”

Students will no longer be the silent ones at parent-teacher conferences. Later this year, they’ll be running the conference. We’ve got a full report on that today in RaiderNet Daily. Lots of sports news as well, and, as you see in the photo above, students are out helping others for the holidays.
