Fulton ‘Wages War’ on Negligent Landlords

The Fulton Common Council held a workshop last week to prepare for an impending war against negligent landlords throughout the city. Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. and administrative assistant to the Mayor, Kathy Trowbridge led the meeting with five of the city’s common councilors in what Trowbridge referred to as a “pep rally” to ensure all councilors were aware of city-wide expectations and how to enforce them. Emphasizing that the crack down will target negligent landlords, Trowbridge said the goal is to aggressively pursue landlords that are considered “repeat offenders” that do not adhere to the city’s code and charter. “Our homeowners deserve this. Our city deserves to be better than this. We do respect the many good landlords but we know the bad ones and we’re coming after you,” Trowbridge warned.

Oswego School Board Gets Reorganized – Kind Of

The Oswego Board of Education held its annual re-organizational meeting on Tuesday. The vote to name a new president ended in a tie due to the absence of board member James Bell. Instead of holding a re-vote, the board decided to postpone the vote until next week’s regular meeting. The vote for a new vice president was also postponed for a week.

Fulton Schools, Cayuga Community College and Oswego County Workforce Development Board To Offer New Opportunity For Students

This fall, 25 ninth grade students in the Fulton City School District will participate in the Fulton Early College High School Program, a learning community offering students access to college courses and a college culture. Mayor Barlow Announces Independence Day Parade Award Winners

Mayor Billy Barlow announced the winners of the float contests following the city of Oswego’s Fourth of July Independence Day Parade. The parade participants and floats were judged as they passed East Park (Washington Square) by Oswego City Clerk Mark Tesoriero, Council Vice President Kevin Hill and Executive Director of the Oswego Chamber of Commerce Katie Toomey.
