Justice Department Files Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Against Owners and Managers of Oswego Area Rental Properties

The Justice Department announced today that it has filed a lawsuit alleging that Douglas S. Waterbury, a residential property owner and landlord in the Oswego area, subjected female tenants and potential tenants to egregious sexual harassment in violation of the Fair Housing Act. Along with Douglas Waterbury, the Department’s complaint names his wife and business partner, Carol A. Waterbury, and two residential property companies, Ontario Realty Incorporated and E&A Management Co., as defendants.

Soldiers Share Personal Stories Of Oswego’s 444th Engineer Company

SUNY Oswego Public Relations major and Fort Ontario intern Alexis Bowering wanted to do something to the men and women of the 444th Engineer Company, 479th Engineer Brigade. With assistance from Friends of Fort Ontario, the daughter of the 444th’s former First Sergeant, organized the program featuring personal stories from officers and soldiers of the company. The Francis Marion Brown Theatre, located on the grounds of Fort Ontario State Historic Site, hosted the event.

Amy Tresidder Elected Chair of Port of Oswego Authority Board

At the port’s annual meeting, Amy Tresidder was elected as chair of the board. In addition, Ken Stevens was elected vice chair and Gerald Brown was elected secretary/treasurer. The board also includes Terry Hammill, John Smith and Thomas Schneider, plus three vacancies. One of the board’s priorities will be to fill the vacant positions.

Oswego County Drug Task Force Announces Cocaine and Weapons Arrest

On Thursday, April 5, at approximately 5:32 a.m., investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force, with the assistance of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department’s Emergency Services Unit and the Fulton City Police Department, executed a narcotics related search warrant at 516 Seward St. in the city of Fulton. As a result of the search warrant execution, approximately 15.8 grams of cocaine, 496 prescription pills, dilutants and digital scales were seized, police said.

Fulton ‘Ahead of Curve’ Pending Final Bridge Rehabilitation

The City of Fulton Common Council awarded the winning bid for the rehabilitation of the North Sixth Street bridge over CSX located between Kimball Avenue and Clark Street. The project is anticipated to start following a pre-construction meeting on Tuesday, April 17 with anticipated completion within 90 days. Following completion, all bridges within the City of Fulton will be up to date.

St. Baldrick’s Organizers: ‘We Are Having A Party!’

This year’s St. Baldrick’s Day in Oswego head-shaving fundraiser for childhood cancer research funds will have a more family-friendly feel to it. Planning committee member Terra Pritchard said, “We want families to come and have a good time, whether they know anyone shaving or not.” To that end, there will be face-painting, cotton candy and popcorn, live music and more.
