Laker Women’s Basketball Star Rebounds From Cancer

Less than a year after fighting to improve with the Oswego State women’s basketball team on the hardwood of Max Ziel Gymnasium, Rachael Windhausen was fighting for something different – her life. Rachael was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma after a series of tests and scans over the summer, changing her focus from post moves and jump shots to chemotherapy treatments and survival.

Assemblyman Barclay Speaks at Chamber Hosted Round Table

Community members, elected officials and local business owners filled the riverside room at Quality Inn and Suites recently to participate in a round table discussion with New York State Assemblyman Will Barclay. At the third round table discussion hosted so far this year by the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, Barclay discussed areas of concern on the state level and addressed questions from anyone in attendance.

Oswego District Proposes Cuts; Still Face Nearly $1 Million Gap

More than two dozen cuts loom in the tentative 2016-17 Oswego City School District budget, Superintendent Dr. Dean Goewey told the school board Tuesday night. “We want to build a revenue based budget on the money that is coming into the district,” he said. The gap was originally $5.6 million. It shrunk to $4.9 million last month. Now it’s less than $1 million – but at a cost.

Three Oswego County Residents Facing Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

On March 9, at approximately 2:34 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle operating erratically on State Route 690 in the town of Lysander, Onondaga County. Troopers reportedly observed various drug paraphernalia and evidence of recent drug use within the vehicle. The three occupants were arrested.
