Tonight (April 11), the county legislators are likely going to vote in a fellow legislator (as treasurer) who has 28 years experience being a legislature not an accountant. If you feel so inclined, call your legislator and ask him why they aren’t giving the added fiscal responsibility to the county’s chief accountant? These are tight times and we don’t need this extra expense when there’s a more efficient way to do it. It doesn’t even have to be a Democratic/Republican issue, its just the right thing to do!
I extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who lent their support to the United Way’s Annual Stone Soup Too Luncheon graciously hosted by Holy Trinity Parish in Fulton.
From the large amount of people who attended, to the many businesses and organizations that helped make the event possible, our Stone Soup Too Luncheon was a perfect example of the United Way’s mantra, ‘It’s Our Community…and It’s Personal’
The Wilcox and Glenister families would like to express our heartfelt and undying appreciation to all of you in our community; our family, our friends, our neighbors, our acquaintances, all of our elected and appointed officials, our friends in radio, television and print media and, most importantly, all of our endless number of volunteers, who tirelessly worked side by side with us in organizing the first Be Aware ‘Cause It’s Rare fundraiser
As one fifth of the county legislature’s Democrat caucus, I can say with certainly that I did not ask for County Clerk Mike Backus to hold an open house or luncheon.
Congratulations to our high school boy and girl bowling teams for their outstanding achievements in their participation in the Section III competition. Both teams were league champions.
As minority leader of the Oswego County Legislature, I am going to respond to some of the baseless allegations made by County Clerk Michael Backus.
It is with delight I say a hearty thank you for the wonderful support CNY Arts Center received from businesses, organizations, members and media coverage, for our first Cabaret Songs of the Seasons.
While I am glad to read that Legislator Malone is apparently ending this back and forth, I notice that he cannot help himself but continue his pointless attack in his letter published on Feb. 28, 2013 on www.oswegocountytoday.com. I believe many of the “facts” that Legislator Malone continues to portray as his own are actually rumor, innuendo and long-held grudges.
I am not going to keep going back and forth in the media with County Clerk Mike Backus. It’s apparent he believes what goes on in his fantasy world. Backus cannot see what’s wrong with his purchase of lunch for legislators?
