Throughout our region exist hidden treasures that locals know about and would become “must visits” for people across the state, and even the nation, if only more people knew about them.

Across our region, the sun and warmth are providing people with plenty of reasons to head outside and enjoy the weather. From fishing and boating to hiking and camping, there is no shortage of fun things to do outdoors in our region.

Our nation’s veterans are heroes and each of them has a story to tell about what they have experienced as defenders of our freedom. Throughout the years, I have been humbled to have the opportunity to hear the stories of so many of our local heroes through my “Veterans Voices” program.

While summer is still in full swing, it is hard to believe that August and one of our state’s favorite summertime traditions is just around the corner. The 2019 Great New York State Fair is set to kick off Wednesday August 21 and will run through Monday, September 2.

“If you are looking for the best angling experience in the country right now, the St. Lawrence River should be your next destination.” I could not have said it better myself. However, this quote is not from me.

While Independence Day is a time to gather with friends and family to celebrate, it is also a day when we all should remember our heritage and our country’s beginnings.

For the second time in just three years, people along the shorelines of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River are facing devastating flooding that is destroying homes, crippling small businesses, eroding shorelines and damaging infrastructure.

With the end of the school year in sight, students across Central and Northern New York are getting excited about summer vacation. However, just because classes end, that should not mean the learning does.

For as long as our brave military members have been needed for battle missions overseas, these heroes have returned home with various challenges. One of the most common is post-traumatic stress disorder, commonly referred to as PTSD.
