Angler Group Plans Spring Cleanup On Salmon River

A group of dedicated anglers will return to the Salmon River on May 7 – not to fish, but to pick up trash and debris – for their second annual Salmon River Cleanup. The Lake Ontario Tributary Anglers Council will meet at 10 a.m. at Fox Hollow Lodge, 2740 State Route 13.

Steelhead Numbers Quadrupled On The Salmon River In Five Years

In fact, the world record coho salmon, a species native to the Pacific Ocean, was caught in the Salmon River near the village of Pulaski.

DEC To Stock Trout In Oswego County Streams In May

Many of Oswego County’s pristine rivers and streams, like the Salmon River, are stocked with brook, brown and rainbow trout in the spring. (Photo by Jessica Burt, Oswego County Tourism Office.)

Known as the premier salmonid fishing destination in the entire Lower 48 States, Oswego County didn’t get that way by chance. It did it through the tireless efforts of the New York State DEC, the most productive and cost-effective arm of the state bureaucracy.
