The Oswego State men’s basketball team opened its SUNYAC slate with a 77-70 loss at Cortland on Saturday afternoon. Oswego now holds a 1-4 mark on the year while the Red Dragons advance to 4-1.
The No. 5/7 Oswego State Lakers tied nationally-ranked Geneseo 2-2 in overtime in a top-10 road battle on Friday night in the Ira S. Wilson Ice Arena. With the draw, Oswego remains undefeated in the SUNYAC at 3-0-1 and moves to 5-1-1 overall. The Knights are now 7-2-1 on the year and 5-1-1 in league action.

On Wednesday night, the OHS Girls’ Hockey team traveled to Canton to take on the Bears in a non-league tilt. The Bucs opened the scoring with 11:39 left in the first when Stephanie Kubis got a nice feed from Hannah Koster that she put by Canton netminder Katie Premo (19 saves).
The Oswego Sub Shop Peewees took home the championship trophy in the TCS Winter Classic Cup held at The Buffalo Riverworks Complex this past weekend. The Oswego side made it to Sunday’s crossover game by going 1-2 in pool play. On Sunday The Sub Shop squad faced the Syracuse Blazers and defeated them 5-1 to advance to the championship contest.

With the win, Oswego improves to 2-3 on the year while the Kangaroos drop to 1-3. Oswego led by double-digits for most of the game and never let the advantage fall below 11 points for the contest’s final 21:05. The Lakers expanded its margin to as many as 23 points, which they held twice in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter.
