An unusually warm fall day set the scene for NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week’s first day of practice at Oswego Speedway. The event officially kicked off at noon when more than 35 race cars took to the streets of Oswego for a procession through town. The stage was then set for the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds to hit the newly covered dirt track for the very first time.
The final race of the 2016 season at Fulton Speedway will feature the ‘Greatest Show On DIRT’ when Kenny Wallace Driving Experience presents the ‘Saturday Night Special’ with the Craftsman World of Outlaw Sprint Cars.
The Oswego Girls’ JV Volleyball team won the Marcellus Volleyball Tournament over the weekend. In the overall pool play Oswego finished in 1st place by going 7-1, with that record put the Bucs in the semi-final match up with Skaneateles. Oswego defeated Skaneateles 25-14 and 25-18 to move onto the championship match with FM.

Since the “New Stage” was announced on July 14, construction crews have been scattered throughout the Oswego facility putting in 10- to 12-hour workdays to transform the timeless Oswego Speedway in advance of the 45th Annual NAPA Super Dirt Week.
From Oct. 5-9, fans from across the nation and beyond will gather at Oswego Speedway for four of DIRTcar Racing’s most competitive divisions – with a cameo from the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
With the 2016 Oswego Speedway championship season in the books, focus now to shifts to the Mitchell’s Speedway Press Oswego Speedway Hall of Fame Banquet set to be hosted by the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center on November 5. The event center is part of the Best Western PLUS Captain’s Quarters and Quality Inn and Suites complex located on East First Street in Oswego.
On Saturday afternoon Oswego Kartway held the third running of the RJ Kart Sales Fall Frenzy Championships with over 90 entries checking in through the gates and nearly 30 racers vying for more than $3,000 in prize money in the State Clone 360 and Clone Medium divisions.
The girls came out prepared for our match up with Westhill tonight. Always tough to go to Westhill’s gym to play a volleyball match. Building up to our game we had discussed using better contact on the ball and better decision making when it came to individual game play. We did what was necessary tonight to win, all the girls minimized individual errors as well as team errors.
With just a few days until go-time, drivers and crew are gearing up for the 45th annual NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week at Oswego Speedway.
