The Oswego State men’s basketball team edged out Fredonia in a 63-62 contest on Friday afternoon at Max Ziel Gymnasium. With the win, the Lakers move to 3-2 on the season and earn their first conference victory in the SUNYAC opener.
Oswego Speedway and its headline Novelis Supermodified division will return to the primetime spotlight tonight (Dec. 4) on MAVTV’s Speed Sport, as May’s Jim Shampine Memorial will re-air at 7 p.m.
The Step One Creative Peewee Red hockey team of the Oswego Minor Hockey Association lost 3-0 to Kemptonville in the championship game of the 2014 Lysander Thanksgiving Tournament, held this past weekend in Lysander.
The Oswego State intercollegiate athletics department has named Drew Bezek its next men’s lacrosse head coach. Bezek will start immediately in his new role, beginning preparations for the upcoming spring season.

With the recent announcement of Oswego Kartway and the New York Dirt Kart Series teaming up for a stretch of qualifying events in 2015, Kartway fans should take note of several Kartway regulars earning post season honors at the annual NYDKS banquet commending their 2014 accomplishments.

Oswego Kartway officials announced the 2015 racing schedule for the “Bull Ring” on Dec. 1, featuring 18 total events including an unprecedented three New York Dirt Kart Series qualifiers. The Kartway’s schedule will begin with the annual preseason warm-up race on May 1 and run through September 26 with the return of the Fun Finale event to cap the season.
Oswego Speedway’s Pathfinder Bank Small Block Super drivers will once again battle for product certificates from Sherwood Racing Wheels in 2015, as the Sherwood Racing Wheels Lap Leader Award returns for the upcoming 65th anniversary season at the ‘Steel Palace.’
Several Oswego Kartway weekly racers are hard at work this off-season preparing to compete in the 22nd annual NY State Indoor Kart Championships, to be held December 5-6 in the Americraft Center of Progress Building located on the NYS Fairgrounds in Syracuse. The NY State Indoor Championships annually attract some of the best kart racers in the country to compete on the concrete floors of the Center of Progress Building.
