Fulton Pop Warner’s Pee Wee football team rolled past the Whitestown Worriers (Tri Valley) Sunday 50-0 in the NYS Quarter Finals. Fulton (7-2) jumped out quickly after taking the opening kickoff.
With the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center in Oswego providing the elegant backdrop, the Oswego Speedway closed out a very successful season of racing Saturday by honoring the outstanding achievers of 2014.
The Oswego State men’s ice hockey team scored eight unanswered goals to the end game and defeat Fredonia 10-2 on Saturday night in Steele Hall Ice Arena. With the victory, the No. 3/3 Lakers remain perfect at 2-0 on the season and in conference action.
The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team capped off its weekend road trip with a 4-0 shutout victory over New England College on Saturday afternoon. Oswego improves to 1-1 on the season.
Kenny Neil’s goal in the final minute of regulation lifted the Oswego State men’s ice hockey team over host Buffalo State 4-3 on Friday night at the Ice Arena. The Lakers erased a three-goal deficit in the second period and Neil’s second goal of the contest secured the victory in the team’s SUNYAC and regular season opener.
The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team fell 2-0 to Castleton State College on the road in its season-opener. Oswego goes to 0-1-0 on the early season. The Lakers were neck-and-neck with the Spartans through one period, ending the first 20 minutes in 0-0 tie.
Oswego Speedway officially announced its 65th anniversary, 15-race weekend schedule featuring the Novelis Supermodified and Pathfinder Bank SBS ‘Road to the Championship’, as well as several blockbuster weekend events, on Friday. When taking note of the 2015 schedule of events, two key components no doubt stand out. The first coming in the month of May, the second on the Speedway’s anniversary weekend in August.
Oswego was named the No. 3 team in the country by USCHO.com on Tuesday night while D3hockey.com also placed the Lakers at No. 3 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Oswego State men’s ice hockey team opened its 50th year with an impressive 5-3 win over the U.S. National Under-18 team on Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 3,000 at the Marano Campus Center Arena. Oswego will start the regular season at 7 p.m. on Oct. 31 when its travels to Buffalo State for a SUNYAC matchup.
