For the second consecutive season Nebraska based helmet painters, Shell Shock Designs, has awarded a free custom helmet painting to the driver with the most heat race victories in the Novelis Supermodified and Pathfinder Bank SBS divisions at Oswego Speedway.
The Oswego Minor Hockey Association will hold a 50th Anniversary “Welcome Back” event for former OMHA board members, according to OMHA President Dan Bartlett.
When Oswego State men’s ice hockey makes history Nov. 22 during the first-ever collegiate hockey game at Syracuse University’s Carrier Dome, Oswego alumni and Laker fans will be able to tune in and cheer from their homes around the world, thanks to live broadcasts by student-run television station WTOP and student-run radio station WNYO.
A tremendous crowd gathered on Sunday at Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego to recognize and honor the record number of competitors that participated in the 2014 racing season at Oswego Kartway. A grand total of 16 champions were crowned between the regular season and RJ Kart Sales Fall Frenzy Series championships.
The college officially welcomed the inductees to the Hall of Fame at a ceremony earlier this month in the Sheldon Ballroom on campus: baseball player Mark Levine, class of 1985, of South Easton, Massachusetts; basketball and softball player Nancy S. Lobb, class of 1983, of Providence Forge, Virginia; baseball and basketball player Sean McLaughlin, class of 2000, of Camden; baseball player Warren Jamie Rutherford, class of 1985, of Portland, Maine; soccer player Gerald W. Vredenburg, class of 1968, of LaFayette; and soccer player Edward Zorn, class of 1963, of Hamlin, inducted posthumously.
In time for the holiday season, Oswego Speedway has released its 65th anniversary season ticket prices, with season passes for grandstand and pit area admission available for purchase. Fans are now able to visit Oswego Speedway’s box office Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to reserve their seats and get a jump start on the 2015 campaign.
Fulton Pop Warner’s Pee Wee football team rolled past the Southwest Colts (Rochester) Saturday at Union College, 34-12. Fulton (10-2) wasted no time showing they were the dominant team after taking the opening kickoff and putting together an 11-play drive capped by an eight-yard touchdown run by Ryan Gugula.
The Step One Creative Peewee Red Hockey Team of the Oswego Minor Hockey Association swept all of its games recently against Syracuse Blazers, Camillus 1 and Skaneateles Red.
The Oswego State men’s basketball team defeated Hartwick 60-50 on Sunday evening at Max Ziel Gymnasium. It was the final game of the Max Ziel Classic, as all four teams finished 1-1 after the opening weekend.
The Oswego State women’s basketball team dropped Bay Path College in an 88-51 contest in the consolation game of the Max Ziel Tournament on Sunday. Oswego’s victory was the first of its season, improving to 1-1, while Bay Path fell to 0-2.
