Damian Archie triumphed in the 5,000-meter run, as one of several Lakers on the men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams to post State University of New York Athletic Conference qualifying results at the St. John Fisher Invitational on Saturday.

Cam’s Pizzeria, a long-time supporter of Oswego Speedway, will continue as the primary sponsor of the Speedway’s flag stand while also presenting fresh pizzas to each of the race night heat race winners this season.  However, now the Speedway’s race fans will also get to enjoy the great taste of a Cam’s NY style pizza during a night of action.

Riding a three-game conference winning streak, the Oswego State baseball team (19-13, 10-6 SUNYAC) came back from an early deficit to pick up a huge win over Plattsburgh (11-21, 4-12), 7-5. With the victory, the Lakers clinched the third-seed in the SUNYAC Tournament, and will face New Paltz in the first game of the SUNYAC Tournament.

After losing 4-2, the Oswego State softball team (15-15, 8-8 SUNYAC) rebounded with a 10-3 win against Geneseo to stay in the thick of the SUNYAC playoff race on Friday afternoon. The Lakers sit in sixth place for the final tournament spot with a two-game lead over Buffalo State with two games remaining for both programs.

After a three year hiatus, four-time Oswego Speedway Pathfinder Bank SBS champion Russ Brown will make his full-time return to the ‘Steel Palace’ in 2013, once again teamed with car builder Ray Hedger. Brown will pilot the same No. 13 Hedger chassis that he drove to a fifth place finish in last year’s Bud Light SBS Classic.

Gater Racing News and North Country Home Builders present the first round of the Shea Concrete ‘Steel Palace’ ISMA SuperSeries on May 4.  The night’s events will be highlighted with an ultra-fast ISMA Supermodified 50-lap main event and the opening round of the Pathfinder Bank SBS ‘Road to the Championship’.

Playing its final home game of the regular season, the Oswego State baseball team (18-13) had trouble finding any offense to keep pace with Ithaca (27-6) in a 7-1 loss on Wednesday. The Lakers only managed six hits on the game after collecting 36 in a doubleheader against Cazenovia the previous day.

The Oswego State softball team pushed its winning streak to five games and reached the .500 mark after sweeping Nazareth by the scores of 14-9 and 5-3 Tuesday. The Lakers were powered by three home runs in game one and scored four runs in the last three innings of the second game to earn a come-from-behind win.

Esther Gabriel (Fr., Lancaster, N.Y.) and Lindsey Eggers (Fr., Ridge, N.Y.) scored four goals each to help the Oswego State women’s lacrosse team (7-7, 4-3 SUNYAC) defeat New Paltz (4-9, 0-7 SUNYAC), 12-7, on Tuesday afternoon to remain in the SUNYAC playoff hunt.
