In a contest that saw more rebounds than points, a pair of free throws by senior Kassie Kleine (Cazenovia, N.Y.) sealed a 38-35 victory for the Oswego State women’s basketball team (18-8) over Cortland (11-14) in the first round of the State University of New York Athletic Conference Tournament Tuesday night at Max Ziel Gymnasium.
The boys’ hockey team skated to the semifinals while the bowlers finished second in their class at the sectionals and the swimmers had numerous outstanding efforts in post season action. Meanwhile, the basketball teams finished the year with losses in sectional action.
Tickets for the upcoming Oswego State women’s ice hockey ECAC West First Round game are now available for the general public. The No. 3-seed Lakers will host No. 6-seed Neumann on Saturday at 2 p.m.
The Oswego State men’s ice hockey team (21-4-0) slipped one spot to No. 3 in the USCHO.com Division III and two spots to No. 6 in the D3hockey.com polls after completing the regular season this past weekend.
