Freshman Kyle Covley (Penfield, N.Y.) scored all of his career-high 14 points in the first half to fuel the Oswego State men’s basketball team (10-2, 3-2 SUNYAC) to a 74-56 win over Fredonia (5-6, 1-4 SUNYAC) in a conference battle on Friday night.

The Oswego State wrestling team (3-4) bounced back from a 31-3 loss to seventh-seeded Heidelberg to defeat Gettysburg, 32-12, and Rhode Island College, 24-21, to advance to the second day of the Budd Whitehill Duals hosted by Lycoming College.

The Oswego State women’s basketball team (11-1, 5-0 SUNYAC) was tested early in the second half by conference foe Fredonia (7-4, 2-3 SUNYAC), but the Lakers ran away with the game midway through the second half in a 67-49 home win on Friday night.

Matt Clemons rolled a pair of 300 games while Cory Keefe was once again displaying his talent, the girls hockey team won its second game of the season while the boys’ hockey squad split a pair of division games and the wrestlers were in action.

Victories abounded for the Oswego High School athletes on Tuesday night and even the lone team that lost was only edged out at the very end of the competition.

On the heels of another championship season in Oswego Speedway’s Novelis Supermodified division, the honors continue to mount for Canajoharie, NY, driver Otto Sitterly.

Kari Kipper (Sr., Loudonville, N.Y.) scored 14 of her game-high 23 points in the eight minutes to help the Oswego State women’s basketball team (10-1, 4-0 SUNYAC) hang on for a 56-52 victory at Oneonta (4-8, 1-4) Tuesday night.

Seniors Chris Gilkes (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Hayden Ward (Montauk, N.Y.) combined to score 42 points, but it would not be enough as the Oswego State men’s basketball team (9-2, 2-2 SUNYAC) lost to Oneonta (2-9, 1-4), 67-57, Tuesday night.
