Catholic Charities Nearing Deadline For Holiday Food Basket Requests

FULTON, NY – With the holidays fast approaching, the Emergency Assistance Program at Catholic Charities of Oswego County has announced that it is rapidly reaching its cut off point for accepting applications for Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets.

“We have been accepting applications for over a week now and we have received a tremendous amount of requests so far,” said program director Helen Hoefer.

Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets are complete with a turkey and all the trimmings and enough food for the family for three days.

Applications for Thanksgiving baskets are being accepted until Nov. 11 or until quotas are met.

Applications for Christmas baskets will be accepted through Nov. 23 or until quotas are met.

Applicants can receive one basket per household and may choose either Thanksgiving or Christmas.

For more information, call Hoefer at Catholic Charities, 598-3980, ext. 250.

“We will continue accepting applications until we have exhausted our availability of baskets. I encourage families interested in receiving a basket this year to stop in and fill out an application as soon as possible,” said Hoefer.

Those interested in applying may do so in person at Catholic Charities’ Food Pantry, 365 W. First St.

Applications will be accepted Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.
