The village of Hannibal kicks off the 2008 holiday season with two days of festivities this week-end. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 22 and Sunday, November 23, bring the whole family to celebrate ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‹Å“A Country ChristmasÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢ in Hannibal.
All weekend, visit local merchants and enter raffles to win one of four door prizes. The drawings take place during the tree lighting ceremony on Sunday evening.
The Hannibal Free Library on Oswego Street will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 12 to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Stop by to bid on a decorated tree or a wreath in the silent auction. The library also provides children with craft time so they can make Christmas gifts.
On Saturday, November 22, bring the kids to Breakfast with Santa at 8 a.m. at the Hannibal Volunteer Fire Department on Oswego Street. Admission is $6.50 for adults, $3 for children and free for those age 5 and younger.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., browse the craft show and enjoy lunch in the Hannibal Methodist Church on the corner of Church and West Streets.
Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church on Cayuga Street hosts a chicken and biscuit dinner from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3.50 for children.
On Sunday, November 23, Travis Floral welcomes Santa Claus from 1 to 4 p.m. when children can have their picture taken with the head elf!
The Boy Scouts will provide luminaries around the village square where the Port Byron Brass performs during the childrenÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s holiday parade on Sunday. As the grand finale of the weekend, residents and visitors will gather for the lighting of the Christmas tree at 4:45 p.m.
