FULTON, NY – Preparations are under way for CNY Arts Center’s first Recording Artist Showcase set for 5 p.m. July 5 at Bullhead Point on Lake Neatahawanta.
Along with Gina Holsopple and Canvas Moon Band, Christopher Battles will take the stage in this celebration of local musicians.
Battles is a genuinely soulful acoustic singer/songwriter who frames the human experience, each song a snapshot for audiences’ hearts and minds.
Foundations of warm and rhythmic guitar work compliment his profound vocal presence, coloring a massive soundscape that transcends the boundaries that contain most singer/songwriters.
Audiences are carried away by what has been billed as his “minstrel performance.”
Bandcamp.com says Battles performances deliver emotion directly into audience’s heart with songs sculpted to leave profound impressions.
His first album “Miles Upon Miles,” was recorded in Brooklyn and released at The Rockwood Music Hall. Long before “Miles Upon Miles” was a nominee for Best Folk Song in the USA Songwriting Competition and the EP played on Sirius XM’s The Village, Battles earned his musical credentials as a classically trained percussionist. Honored with numerous accolades and scholarships as a jazz, Latin, and classical performer, he graduated Suma Cum Laude from the Crane School of Music.
Informed by years of travel, study and practice, he is distinguished and defined onstage with a depth of presence beyond his years.
He gave a benefit concert last year to raise funds for the Literacy Coalition of Oswego County and has performed at events in Oswego including the Great Pumpkin Festival and at Oswego Music Hall.
“We are honored and delighted to spotlight this rising star musician with a heart for his music and his hometown,” said Nancy Fox, director. “We support his efforts to share that music and look forward to an evening of sharing it with the community.”
