Former Fulton resident Dr. Craig Datz will present a pipe organ program at the First United Church, 33 South 3rd Street, Fulton on Sunday, July 19 at 3:00 PM. The concert is free and open to the public.
The program is titled “American Music You Won’t Hear In Church†and includes a variety of organ transcriptions and arrangements from composers such as Copland, Bernstein, Gershwin, and even Scott Joplin. Selections from Broadway shows and guest vocalists round out the concert. Carter Datz, age 15, will assist in the performance. The church’s historic Austin organ, installed in 1923, was recently enlarged with additional pipes.
Datz, a 1980 graduate of G. Ray Bodley, studied organ with Dolores Walrath. He is a professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Missouri and serves as organist at Missouri United Methodist Church in Columbia, Missouri. For more information, call the church office at 315-592-2707.
