FULTON, NY – With winter break right around the corner, Feb 20-24 for most school districts, CNY Arts Center plans to continue the fun began with the recent Arts Snow Day. Jim Farfaglia, local author and poet, will host “Break into Writing” during the week-long school break.
Farfaglia conducted a popular poetry class for young and old alike during Arts Snow Day and will continue the writing fun for 10-14 year olds, 10 a.m. to noon, at the Fulton Public Library.
The class is designed for young people who love to write and will feature activities and instruction on improving writing skills.
Youth interested in all types of writing, including fiction, short story, non-fiction, poetry, song lyrics and news reporting are welcome.
“Each day I will lead an activity that will encourage youth to expand their writing skills,” Farfaglia noted. “And, we will also have time to write and share our writing with each other.”
There is a registration fee for the class; Nancy Fox, CNY Arts Center president, encourages students who need assistance to call.
“We are grateful to have the support of Fulton’s Lion’s Club and Noon Rotary Club who each agreed to sponsor students for this great opportunity. We want every student who has a passion for writing to take this step toward learning more about the art of writing from this accomplished writer,” she said. “It is the first of many opportunities we want to give to the community and we appreciate the participation of Fulton’s service groups to make this possible.”
