College Night Planned April 27 At Marano Campus Center

OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego County Counselors Association in conjunction with SUNY Oswego is pleased to offer an evening college fair this spring.

This event made its debut last spring and was a huge success.

College Night will be held at the SUNY Oswego Marano Campus Center on April 27 from 6-8 p.m.

OsCCA and SUNY Oswego are confident that once again hosting this evening college fair will be beneficial to participating families as well as college representatives.

Lisa Roman, Oswego High School counselor and president of the Oswego County Counselors Association said she is “excited to continue our partnership with SUNY Oswego to offer Oswego County families an opportunity to talk with college admissions representatives. Given the success of this event last year, we know that it answered a need in our community, and we are looking forward to offering this event again in April.”

Every October, OsCCA organizes a daytime college fair for students that has been hosted by Cayuga Community College.

Each high school in Oswego County buses students to Cayuga Community College’s Fulton campus, where college representatives meet with interested students.

However, this spring event hosted at SUNY Oswego is the only evening college fair in the immediate Oswego County area.

Dan Griffin, director of admissions at Oswego State, feels the timing is right for students beginning their college search.

“Now more than ever higher education is a family affair,” he said. “Hosting this event in the evening will hopefully provide the opportunity for families to begin the process together.”

To that end, all age groups are welcome to attend, according to Griffin.

More than 50 colleges and universities are expected to be in attendance at College Night, with college admissions representatives available to answer questions from students and their families.

In addition, two thirty-minute information sessions will be offered giving advice on how to navigate the college application process, and a financial aid table will be staffed by SUNY Oswego financial aid experts.
