The Oswego County Placement Network (OCPN) announces the Third Annual Disability Mentoring Day to take place on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at the American Foundry in Oswego. Disability Mentoring Day allows those with disabilities the opportunity to job shadow at local businesses to learn more about job skills and to promote career development. Last year, participants were matched up with many local employers including Advantage Carpets/Taylor Rental, American Foundry, ARC of Oswego County, Arise, Econo Lodge, Fulton Family YMCA, Lighthouse Lanes, Mrs. Rogers Neighborhood, Oswego County Buildings and Grounds, Oswego YMCA, Price Chopper, RJ Caruso Tax & Accounting, Ruby Tuesday and Ye Olde Hair Shoppe.
The event is sponsored by the Oswego County Placement Network which is a multi-agency group working to establish a strong link between a diversified work force and the employment community to ensure mutually beneficial employment opportunities. The OCPN offers no-cost employment services including qualified, screened, job-ready applicants; appropriate job matches with motivated candidates; hiring and financial incentives and tax credits; training and consultation; assistance with disability awareness and diversity training programs, Americans with Disability Act compliance; and, follow-up services after placement.
