Area bikers are gearing up for the 5th Annual “Blue Ribbon Ride” Against Child Abuse.  Scheduled for Saturday, August16th, the nearly 80 mile ride will begin at Sweet Inspirations Drive-In on Route 3 in Fulton and wind throughout Oswego County.

Members from the Star Society of Oswego, the Child Advocacy Center (CAC), community volunteers and concerned business owners have come together to plan this year’s ride in support of the CAC’s annual Blue Ribbon Campaign which focuses on child abuse awareness and prevention.

“This is the only charity ride that tours Oswego County exclusively, and raises funds for an agency that serves so many children in the county”, said planning committee member, Dena Granger.

Director of the CAC, Olivia VanSanford said that the agency is still accepting registrations for bikers who would like to join the ride.

“Those interested in participating in the ride may do so by calling our office at 592-4453.  We will also be accepting registrations the day of the event as well,” she said.

A $30 donation per driver and a $20 donation per passenger are requested.  Riders who obtain $100 or more in donations will be able to ride for free.  Proceeds will benefit the CAC’s Blue Ribbon Campaign.  Day of registration will begin at 10 am with the ride beginning at 12 noon.

Mark Eagan of Wheel-A-Way Motorsports in Fulton has been a supporter of the event since it began and is once again helping to provide shirts for the bikers in this year’s Blue Ribbon Ride.

“We truly appreciate the support we receive from caring businesses such as Wheel-A-Way Motorsports, the members of our volunteer planning committee, the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department, the City of Fulton Police Department, and the many local volunteer fire departments for assisting us with traffic control and making sure the ride is safe.  Their concern for the children in this county and their support of our efforts is remarkable.  Many free services are provided to the victims that come to the CAC and without the support of the community we would not be able to help these children,” said Olivia VanSanford.

Raffles & door prizes will again be a fun part of the day with a chicken barbeque at Sweet Inspirations Drive-In following the ride.   This is a rain or shine event.

The CAC is a non-profit organization that works hand-in-hand with local law enforcement, prosecution, child protective services, medical providers, therapy providers, and victim advocacy professionals in Oswego County to protect and serve over 200 child victims of sexual and physical abuse each year.
