A new summer time series, Summer Scientists, has started at the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center.  This special hands-on science program is designed for middle school youth to explore two SET, science, engineering and technology, subjects: robotics and/or aerospace.   There is still time to sign up for the second part of this experience.

Aerospace Adventures will be the second program in this popular series.  The program will consist of five 2 hour-long classes. In this program, youth will develop skills and knowledge in the areas of aviation, space, kites, weather and aerospace careers. Activities and lessons will be taken from two of the National 4-H Cooperative Curriculum Systems’ Aerospace Adventure project guides: Lift Off and Reaching New Heights.  During this week long program, youth will build at least one simple rocket, a Nagasaki Hata kite and Wright Brother front rudder paper glider.  They will also learn how to speak and decipher messages using the International Phonetic Alphabet.  Aerospace Adventures will be held daily July 25- 29 from 10:00 am until Noon. This program is open to Oswego County youth entering fifth grade and older.   Class size is limited to 15 youth to allow for the best learning experience.

There is no registration fee for Aerospace Adventures due to funding from the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau.  The Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center is located on State Route 183 in eastern Oswego County.
