There will be an opening reception at Lakeside Artisans, 193 W. First St., in Canal Commons on Saturday from 2 – 6 p.m.

It is free and open to the public.

Refreshments will be served and music will be provided by harpist Marcella Slater.

Bjorkman earned his BA in English at Clark University, and then joined the Peace Corps, serving as a teacher in Nigeria.

In 1969, he decided to be an artist, “to the dismay of his family,” he said.

Since then he has exhibited at exhibitions throughout the US.

He moved to the Oswego area in 1986 stating “my wife, who is from Fulton, has a nicer family than mine.”

He has served on the boards of the Oswego Opera Theatre, The H. Lee White Marine Museum and the Oswego Arts Collaborative.

In 2008, he received a Certificate in Arts Administration from NYU.

Bjorkman’s work exudes originality. He has mixed thoughtful content with wit and humor. His meticulous, time-consuming attention to detail results in a display of stunning craftsmanship.

To this he replies, “I just like to draw. I draw obsessively. I am fussy. I see through my work and communicate my thoughts through my images.”

His Fenix Art Studio, located above the Picture Connection at 169 W. First St. is open by appointment. missing or outdated ad config
