“Alliance Bank has been instrumental in making the idea for our Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament a reality. In addition to their monetary support as a major sponsor, Jolene Bechtel of Alliance Bank has donated her time and talents as a committee member for the event. Her efforts have played a major role in the planning and preparation for this fundraiser,” said executive director of Catholic Charities of Oswego County, Mary-Margaret Pezzella-Pekow.

Committee members are looking forward to a full slate of teams and plenty of spectators as all proceeds from the event will benefit two of Catholic Charities’ most accessed programs, the food pantry and CYO.

Last year, Catholic Charities’ food pantry served more than 15,000 people and provided more than 63,000 meals last year to families in need in Oswego County.

The CYO, which offers a wide variety of recreational and educational programs for area youth, is more popular than ever and there have been requests to expand the CYO mentoring program for elementary and high school students to more schools throughout Oswego County.

The tournament, which will begin at noon, will be hosted by Cheap Seats Sports Bar, 6 Hillside Ave. and will pit six teams, six players per team, in a double-elimination tournament with the opportunity to win prizes of $200 for first place and $100 for second place.

To add to the fun there will also be a bag auction and a 50 / 50 drawing.

In addition, Lee Victory, owner of Cheap Seats, will also donate 20 % of all food and beverage sales during the tournament to Catholic Charities.

Whether as a spectator or a player, come out for an afternoon of fun for a good cause and help support Catholic Charities.
