The alumni encouraged students to seek college-level classes while still enrolled in high school, apply to colleges early and often, seek multiple scholarships before and during college, develop time management skills between work and studies, don’t base college decisions on where friends may attend and network to develop career connections.

“You want to find a job that’s worth going to; you definitely have to apply everywhere,” said Cassie Tighe, a 2011 JCB graduate who is now employed as a laboratory technician for Byrne Dairy.

Kenneth Roffo, a 2012 JCB graduate and current SUNY Oswego senior physics, math and computer science major, encouraged students to immerse themselves in the whole college experience by making diverse friends, joining clubs and living on campus.

The panel was hosted by the JCB Leadership Group.
