American Red Cross to Offer Popular CPR Professional Rescuer Class

Submitted Article

OSWEGO, NY – On July 12, the American Red Cross will be offering the much sought after CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer class from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. at the Oswego County Branch office, 333 W. First St.

This class teaches those with a duty to act with the skills needed to respond appropriately to breathing and cardiac emergencies.

The instruction includes use of the automated external defibrillator to care for a victim of cardiac arrest.

This class identifies the responsibilities and characteristics of a professional rescuer, lists the series of events that occur when the EMS system is activated, outlines the legal considerations that affect the professional rescuer and teaches the responder to recognize and provide appropriate care for breathing emergencies, and other life threatening injuries and illnesses.

“This is one of our most popular classes” said Lisa Sellin, chapter services associate. “It usually fills up very quickly.”
