AmeriCorps Holds Cans & Coats Drive Dec. 1 – 3 in Oswego

OSWEGO – Downtown Oswego will be treated to the sound of carolers Dec. 1, 2 and 3 as volunteers collect donations of winter coats and non-perishable food items to assist the Oswego Salvation Army in their care of the needy this Christmas season.

The project is organized by Ian Mumpton, an AmeriCorps member who is serving at Fort Ontario State Historic Site. “As the cold weather sets in, winter coats and non-perishable food items are needed more and more,” said Mumpton. “All donations will be accepted with thanks and appreciation.”

Volunteer carolers will collect winter coats and non-perishable food items at the City of Oswego Tree Lighting celebration Thursday, Dec. 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Civic Plaza, and outside of Man in the Moon Candies at 203 W. First St. from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, and from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3.

The project is a partnership of Oswego County AmeriCorps, Friends of Fort Ontario, and Man in the Moon Candies. For more information contact Mumpton at 315-350-1580.
