Call-Out For 2027 Youth Program Proposals

OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Youth Bureau now accepts proposals from community-based, not-for-profit organizations for 2027 youth development programs including team sports and sports education. The call-out comes in anticipation of limited funding for youth programs being available from the state next year.

“As always, these funds are provided by the Oswego County Youth Bureau and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services,” said Oswego County Youth Bureau Executive Director Brian Chetney. “We want to get a head start on approving these programs to ensure we are able to provide as many opportunities for our kids as possible.”

Program funds will be awarded for nine months, beginning January 1, 2027.

A one-page summary must be submitted to the Oswego County Youth Bureau by Friday, Aug. 21, with the full proposal due by Friday, Sept. 4. Applicants may be required to meet with youth bureau staff after submitting their one-page summary.

All funding decisions and awards will be based on New York State guidelines. The county Youth Bureau’s Board of Directors will review and evaluate each proposal for cost effectiveness, impact and measurable outcomes. The review will also ensure a large cross-section of youth from different age groups and geographic areas around the county are served.

The Oswego County Youth Bureau supports youth development as an ongoing process to help children and teens build life skills that will allow them to become successful adults. A strong youth development system should result in timely high school graduation, job and career readiness, strong civic-mindedness, and the ability to overcome involvement with the juvenile delinquency system.
