Fire Safety Week In Focus At Sandy Creek

OSWEGO COUNTY – Sandy Creek Elementary students took part in the district’s annual Fire Safety Week with visits and interactive activities at four local fire departments.

Pre-K and first graders enjoyed a visit from the Lacona Fire Department at school, where firefighters demonstrated safety equipment and shared important fire prevention tips. Second- and third-grade students traveled to the Sandy Creek Fire Department, exploring fire trucks and practicing safety skills. Fourth graders visited the Orwell Fire Department, learning about firefighting equipment through demonstrations. Fifth graders explored the Redfield Fire Department, learning about fire prevention and emergency response through interactive stations.

The program, held during Fire Prevention Month, is designed to give students practical knowledge about fire safety in a memorable, engaging way. Partnering with local fire departments, Sandy Creek schools aim to prepare students with essential skills to stay safe at home and in their communities.
