Interested in Becoming a Child Care Provider? Learn More at Free Info Sessions!

OSWEGO COUNTY – Oswego County, Integrated Community Planning of Oswego County, Inc. (IPOC), Small Business Development Center, Jefferson Community College and Oswego County Workforce New York (OCWNY) have joined forces to offer a free home-based child care business program to interested residents.

Participants will receive business and education training to learn about providing high quality child care, along with support and guidance through state registration and licensing processes.

Those who would like to take part in this unique opportunity are invited to attend one of the following free information sessions:

  • Thursday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m.; Sweet Aroma Café, 2870 NYS Rte. 49, Central Square
  • Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 5 p.m.; OCO Pulaski Family Welcome Center, 10 Bella Rd.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m.; Integrated Community Planning of Oswego County, Inc., 317 W. First St., Suite 111, Oswego.

Jefferson Community College provides virtual workshops to help participants evaluate their ideas and make decisions about how to best plan their programs and daily routines. They will also review behavior management and discipline policies. All of these components will help participants personalize the Family Policy Handbook to meet the needs of their individual business.

In addition, the Small Business Development Center offers five virtual workshops covering business basics, marketing, liability and insurance, accounting and entrepreneurship.

The Child Care & Development Council of Oswego County, part of ICPOC, will help with the New York State Child Care registration process as well as provide assistance with regulations and licensing.
