Learn About the ‘Oswego Build’ Pre-Apprenticeship Program

OSWEGO COUNTY – Oswego County Workforce New York (OCWNY) hosts weekly information sessions for its new initiative Oswego Build, a pre-apprenticeship paid training program that helps trainees prepare for an apprenticeship in a local trade union. Meetings are held every Thursday, now through July 10, with in-person seminars from 1 to 2 p.m. at the OCWNY Career Center and virtual sessions from 5 to 6 p.m.

Oswego Build is part of the regional initiative to expand the trades in Central New York in preparation for Micron and other related projects. It is spearheaded by CenterState CEO and modeled after Syracuse Build, which has had success preparing for the trades. Oswego Build’s first pre-apprenticeship group is scheduled to begin in August.

Registration is required to attend an information session. To register, call OCWNY at 315-591-9000. For details about Oswego Build, contact Program Manager Dan Petty at 315-591-9069 or [email protected].

The OCWNY Career Center is located at 200 N. Second St. in Fulton, across from Mimi’s Drive-In. For more information about OCWNY or events, open positions and job search tips, go to www.ocwny.org or find Oswego County Workforce New York on Facebook, X, LinkedIn and Instagram.
