OSWEGO, N.Y. — The Oswego County Legislature will be holding a grand opening & ribbon cutting ceremony for the completion of Legends Fields Complex on May 17th, 2024, at 4:45 P.M., Legends Fields Complex, 99 Churchill Rd., Oswego, NY 13126.
Shortly after the ceremony, at 5 p.m., the first pitch will be thrown simultaneously on each field by the Chairman of the Legislature, James Weatherup along with Legislators Robert Wilmott, 18th District and Charles Burger, 17th District, the City of Oswego Mayor Robert Corradino and Tim Stahl, Director of Community Development, Tourism and Planning.
Chairman James Weatherup said, “I am happy to welcome the community to the first ball tournament of the season as this project has been ongoing since early fall of 2023”.
“The legislature focused on the much-needed improvements, to include artificial turf installments on all six ball fields, a new parking lot has been repaved and security fences repaired. The completion of this project will positively affect our community through continued economic growth and tourism by extending the ball playing season”, said chairman Weatherup.
Oswego City-County Youth Bureau Executive Director, Brian Chetney said, “The season is projected to be extended upwards to three months out of the year, this is a significant amount of time for teams to play ball in Oswego County.”
